The biotechnology department will be established in the Northeast Biotech Food Industry Technology Park (NEBFITP) alongside the other departments and it will contain biotech based industrial units; research in and application of biotech will be carried out As application of biotechnology raises productivity and profitability, and because this is a rather novel field in Iran, informing and training will be of fundamental importance. The department will collect and disseminate such information as the basics of biotechnology and its applications, biotech research centers in Iran and other countries, distinguished experts, research results, available data banks and the better websites, and biotech seminars and conferences.
